School Treasurer Folds Student Tuition Fee Rp90 Million

BANJARMASIN - The school treasurer in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, with the initials RA (29) was arrested by the police after embezzling student Education Development Contribution (SPP) fees amounting to Rp90 million.

"We arrested the suspect on Saturday (23/1) in Central Kalimantan after running away from embezzling money at his school at SMPLB YPLB Banjarmasin," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of West Banjarmasin Police, Iptu Yadi Yatullah, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 25.

The embezzlement that was carried out by the perpetrator stems from the suspicion of the school because the person concerned has never been to work since February 19, 2020.

It is known that the perpetrator, who is also a teacher at SMPLB YPLB Banjarmasin, never gave news to the school and brought Rp90 million from the tuition fees for SMPLB students.

Then the school also reported the perpetrator's actions to the police because he allegedly disappeared deliberately and took away school fees.

As a result of the police investigation, the reported presence was detected in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan. Finally, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Banjarmasin Police was backed up by the South Kalimantan Regional Police Resmob Unit and the Kotim Police Regional Police Unit succeeded in arresting the suspect.

There were also a number of pieces of evidence that were also confiscated, including 28 white SPP payment cards, 20 blue SPP payment cards,

four school finance notebooks and one Simpedes savings book in the name of SLTP YPLB Pelambuan.

"The suspect is detained and charged under Article 374 of the Criminal Code on Embezzlement in a position that carries a maximum imprisonment of five years," said Yadi.
