Preparation For The Tokyo Olympics Becomes Luhut's First Work Agenda At PASI, Especially Regarding Zohri Who Is Injured
JAKARTA - Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Chairman of the Indonesian Athletic Association (PB PASI) for the 2021-2015 period, will face his first work agenda in the management of athletic organizations to complete preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He conveyed this in a virtual press conference that was held after being elected by acclamation at the 2021 PASI Congress in Jakarta, Monday, January 25.
"Earlier I discussed with Tigor (General Secretary), there is an injury for Zohri. Later we will discuss it so that it can be resolved, the Olympics are still six months old and we will solve what is lacking," said Luhut.
Luhut treated Zohri's problem with a cool head. Although so far Zohri has been the only representative of Indonesia in athletics, he is optimistic that Zohri can fight to the fullest.
"We have obstacles, but I am sure that the ones who have problems ahead of the Olympics are not only us, other countries as well. We just have to finish it for later preparations," concluded the man who is also the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition to the focus on preparing for the Olympics, Luhut is also committed to maintaining the quality of PB PASI in order to continue to produce outstanding athletes like what Bob Hasan did in the previous leadership period.
With a decade of experience leading the Executive Board of the Indonesian Karate-do Sports Federation (PB FORKI), he is confident that he can lead PB PASI properly and according to his mandate.
"Mr. Bob left an unforgettable legacy, that's why I and the board must take care. I promise to do the best at PASI," he said.
Regarding the preparation for the Olympics, the General Secretary of PB PASI Tigor Tanjung emphasized that the Indonesian national team will remain focused on efforts to prepare Lalu Muhammad Zohri even though there is news that the Tokyo Olympics will be canceled.
Zohri's certainty as a single athlete in athletics is getting stronger considering that no other national athlete candidate will be able to enter the Olympics due to limited championships that have been affected by the pandemic.
"Our focus is not on the Olympics, but we are trying to prepare athletes. Until now only Zohri has passed and we want to add one more person, but in reality it is difficult because many championships have been canceled due to the pandemic," said Tigor.
