PDIP Approaches Democrats, PKS Affirms Commitment To Promote Anies Baswedan In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - PKS DPP chairman Al Muzammil Yusuf emphasized that his party is committed to carrying Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. PKS was not affected by the PDI-P's efforts to approach the Democrats.

"As coalition partners in the Change Coalition, PKS remains consistent in fighting for Presidential Candidate (Capres) Anies Rasyid Baswedan according to the mandate of the PKS Syuro Council. PKS has a strong commitment to Anies Rasyid Baswedan as a presidential candidate for the Change Coalition," Al Muzammil said in a written statement quoted Monday, June 12.

PKS emphasized that coalition partners, namely NasDem and Democrats, share the same political commitment. The three political parties agreed to hand over the cawapres decision to Anies Baswedan on the proposals for names from the coalition political parties.

"We hope that all forms of political communication carried out by coalition parties can strengthen and strengthen the coalition that has been well established," said Al Muzammil.

As previously reported, the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Teuku Riefky. A number of discussions were held, including opportunities for cooperation during the 2024 General Election.

This was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Democratic Party Spokesperson Herzaky Mahendra Putra. He said the casual meeting was held in the Blok M area with dinner.

"Yes, that's right, there was a meeting between the Secretary General of the Democratic Party Teuku Riefky and PDIP Secretary General Hasto. The location is in the Berkah Chicken, Blok M," Herzaky told reporters, Sunday, June 11 evening.

In addition to discussing the possibility of cooperation, the two also discussed the meeting of the Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) with the Chairman of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani. This plan follows up on Hasto's statement.

However, it is not certain when the two presidential children will meet. Herzaky said, "For the schedule for Ms. Puan and Ms. AHY's meeting, they are adjusting the schedule for the two," he said.
