BPBD Disburses IDR 2.3 Billion For Handling Parigi Moutong Floods, Including Ready Funds Using IDR 250 Million

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) disbursed ready-to-use funds worth IDR 250 million for flood management in Balinggi and Torue Districts, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi). "This budget assistance is for operational activities during the disaster emergency response period," said BNPB Expert Jahidin Chilo during a visit in Parigi Moutong, Friday, June 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

In addition to ready-to-use funds, Jahidin said that BNPB also distributed assistance for overcoming Parigi Moutong floods in the form of logistics in the form of two evacuation tents, 300 packages of hygiene kits, 500 packages of basic necessities, 10 units of generator machines, 300 units of tools, blankets, and 1,000 mattresses each with a total budget of IDR 2.3 billion.

According to Jahidin, the government's presence is urgently needed during a disaster emergency situation, because the condition of the affected residents is weak, so it needs quick intervention so that their condition can quickly recover.

During the emergency response period, the Parigi Moutong Regional Government (Pemda) focused on improving affected infrastructure, especially river normalization activities and meeting the basic needs of residents.

Therefore, he said, the logistics of foodstuffs, evacuation tents and other equipment are urgently needed at this time. "We hope that the local government as the aid for disaster victims, what is the need for residents to be met immediately," he said.

Parigi Moutong also suggested that the Parigi Moutong Food Crops and Horticulture (TPHP) Office propose to the ministry regarding agricultural land damage due to flood impacts, so that it can be followed up. "Please include a proposal to the Central Government for intervention," said Jahidin. Abdul Karim, a resident of Catur Karya Village, Balinggi District, hopes that the government can pay more attention to victims whose houses were heavily damaged or lost due to the impact of flooding. Catur Karya, especially Jatilui Hamlet, one of the villages was severely affected. Where in the area two houses were heavily damaged, units were lost, eight units were lightly damaged and 12 families (KK) or 41 people were displaced. "What we need as soon as possible is a place to live. My house was swept away by the flood. I hope the government can find a solution," he concluded.
