Turn Things Around, Immobile Determine Lazio's Victory Over Sassuolo
JAKARTA - Lazio locked a 2-1 win over Sassuolo's guest despite being behind first, in the Italian League match which was played at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, local Sunday or Monday morning WIB.
Sassuolo took the lead through Francesco Caputo's goal in the sixth minute, but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored to equalize in the 25th minute, before Ciro Immobile grabbed the winner in the 72nd minute, according to the official Italian League website. .
The three points secure Lazio's position in seventh in the standings with 34 points, while Sassuolo is in ninth place with 30 points.
Sassuolo kicked off from the start. Patric had to block while sliding to thwart Hamed Traore's chances. Not long ago, Sassuolo really opened up an advantage. Filip Djuricic moves to the left, to then send in a pass which Caputo completes perfectly.
Lazio tried hard to equalize. Manuel Lazzari fired over and Joaquin Correa's shot from close range was deflected. They were only able to equalize when Milinkovic-Savic headed the ball from a corner.
The two teams continued to threaten each other and made a number of crosses, but neither was able to convert them into goals. Pedro Obiang outwitted Stefan Radu, but goalkeeper Pepe Reina was able to prevent his shot. Another chance that Luke Haraslin has can be thwarted by Lazzari who sweeps the ball before it crosses the goal line.
Marlon made a fine tackle on Immobile in the box, but the Italy international was able to complete Lazio's comeback when he snatched a tug of an Adam Marusic cross.
Immobile nearly scored his second goal sometime later, this time from a Lazzari pass. But the solution was thwarted by Marlon.
Lazio still wasted two good opportunities to increase their lead as the game ended, first when goalkeeper Andrea Consigli tipped off Vedat Muriqi's shot, and he then thwarted Gonzalo Escalante's chance from a frenzy in front of goal.
