Update On COVID-19 As Of Sunday 24 January: Addition Of 11,788 Cases, Jakarta Still Becomes The Most 'Contributor'

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, January 24. Of the 48,002 specimens that have been examined, the result is an additional 11,788 positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 989,262 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying on Sunday, January 24.

Cases recovered today increased by 7,751 people so that the total accumulation reached 798,810. Meanwhile, 171 people died on the positive confirmation, bringing the total to 27,835.

The provinces with the most new cases were in DKI Jakarta with the addition of 3,512 new cases. This makes this province the largest contributor to COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.

This was followed by West Java with 2,328 new cases, Central Java with 1,515 new cases, East Java with 901 new cases, and East Kalimantan with 432 new cases.

There are two provinces that report the addition of less than 10 cases of COVID-19, namely Gorontalo and North Maluku. Meanwhile, the province with the highest number of cures per day is DKI Jakarta with 2,382 recovered cases.

Then followed by West Java 1,767 recovered cases, East Java 948 recovered cases, South Sulawesi 554 recovered cases, East Kalimantan 388 cases recovered, and DI Yogyakarta 186 cases recovered.

Furthermore, the number of specimens examined reached 8,754,507. In detail, 8,617,388 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 137,119 examined using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The cumulative positive results per number of people examined or a positivity rate of 16.9 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 80,114 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
