Democrats Affirm AHY's Quality Of Qualification As A Vice Presidential Candidate

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Membership and Cadreization Organization of the Democratic Party DPP Herman Khaeron assessed that the PDI-P statement which stated the name of the General Chairperson of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, included a candidate for future assistant to Ganjar Pranowo, showed the quality of a candidate for vice president.

"First of course, thank you Mas AHY for being on the radar of the vice president at PDIP. This shows that Mas AHY as the Chairman of the Democrats also deserves to be a candidate for vice president," Herman said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.

He said that the consideration as a candidate for president emerged from the PDI-P. "Because beyond all assumptions, of course, it was mentioned by those who had never mentioned anything," he said.

Although the situation has the potential to melt and open dialogue or political communication, he emphasized that the Democratic Party remains with the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) which carries Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election.

"However, it is necessary to ensure that based on political considerations and ethics, until now the Democrats remain with the Coalition for Change, remaining with NasDem, PKS," he said.

In a previous statement, Herman said that the mention of AHY's name as one of the prospective assistant candidates for Ganjar Pranowo as an example to cool the political situation.

"Yesterday I saw a dialogue on several television media, with PDIP, when Mbak Puan mentioned that AHY's name was on the vice presidential radar at PDIP, how come he suddenly became a Democrat with PDIP, opened up space to each other, there would be processes of dialogue and political communication," said Herman.

"In political institutions, at the level we talk about national values, we are the same, the goal is the same, to be able to fill independence in accordance with the ideals of independence towards a just and sensitive society, to realize a sovereign, just Indonesia and of course to maintain its independence," he said.

Previously, PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the PDI-P prioritized the politics that embraced when it was asked why the name of the General Chairperson of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was on the radar of the vice presidential candidate.

"Yes, when the name appeared, Mas AHY was conveyed by Mbak Puan Maharani (Chairman of the PDI-P DPP), the spirit that embraces all political elements," Hasto told reporters on the sidelines of the PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) III at the Lenteng Agung Party School, South Jakarta.
