Green Light For Barcelona Who Are Looking For An Emergency Attacker
JAKARTA - Barcelona received the green light from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to sign an emergency attacker this week. This was obtained by the Catalan club following a long injury suffered by Ousmane Dembele.
As El Mundo Deportivo outlined, the Catalan giants have been given 15 days to sign a replacement after Dembele was sidelined for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season.
However, Barca were given certain conditions in the emergency recruitment. Among other things, the new player must be a striker and may not be contracted to another club or under a La Liga club contract - which in turn will not be entitled to add replacements. The player will also only be allowed to play in La Liga.
Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati are the remaining strikers in Barcelona's main squad at this time. In January, Barca had already released Carles Perez and Abel Ruiz.
Getafe striker Angel Rodriguez or striker Alaves Lucas Perez are the two players most likely to be recruited by Barca. However, a report in El Mundo Deportivo on Thursday said the name of Levante striker Roger Marti - who scored 10 goals in La Liga - has also surfaced. This does not include Leganes forward Martin Braithwaite.
Previously, Barcelona refused to sign Willian Jose from Real Sociedad. The decision was taken on Wednesday last week because La Real's asking fee, which is between 30 and 35 million euros, was deemed too high.
Much earlier, Rodrigo Moreno (Valencia) was targeted as an important signing for Los Blaugrana in the winter to replace the injured Luis Suarez until the end of the season. However, failure occurred, leaving a deep frustration for the Camp Nou troops.
