Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To Death 2 Couriers 75 Kg Of Shabu-40,000 Ecstasy

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court sentenced two drug couriers as defendants Syahril and Yogi Saputra Dewa to death in cases of 75 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 40,000 ecstasy pills.

"Sentenced the defendants Syahril and Yogi Saputra Dewa each with the death penalty," said Chief Judge Dahlan in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 7.

The panel of judges assessed that the defendant Syahril and the defendant Yogi Saputra Dewa violated Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

"Without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or delivering narcotics class I which weighs more than five grams, namely 75 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 40,000 pills of ecstasy," explained the panel of judges.

The panel of judges said that the aggravating actions of the two defendants did not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics trafficking, had committed similar crimes twice and the impact was very damaging for the younger generation, while mitigating factors were not found.

The verdict is the same (conform) with the public prosecutor from the Medan Andalan Zalukhu District Attorney (Kejari) against the two defendants with the death penalty.

Meanwhile, the legal advisers of the two defendants Rointan Manullang will file an appeal as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the partners of the two defendants, namely Sertu Yalpin Tarjun and Pratu Rian (separate files) were sentenced to life at the Military Court 1-02 Medan, Monday (29/5). In addition, First Sergeant Yalpin Tarjun and First Private Rian Hermawan were subject to additional crimes fired from the military service of the TNI.

This verdict is lighter than the oditur Major Chk R Panjaitan in prosecuting the two defendants with the death penalty.
