Gerindra Agrees With Jokowi Caw-cawe In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of Gerindra Habiburokhman admitted that he did not question President Joko Widodo's attitude in interfering in politics, especially ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous General Election (Pemilu).

"Yes, as long as he does not follow policies that are profitable or detrimental to one of the pairs of candidates. That is clear in the election law," said Habiburokhman as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 7.

According to him, Jokowicawe should be in a positive context, such as taking part in controlling campaign rules and other rules related to the 2024 General Election.

"We have agreed that what Mr. Jokowi said is very appropriate. We, as the Indonesian nation, all of them have to be fussy. As a moral call, especially since he is the president. So, these rumors are in a positive context," he continued.

He also emphasized that he did not object to Jokowi's reckless attitude, as long as it did not harm certain parties. Even so, until now there has been no prospective presidential candidate (candidate) and a potential vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

"Then, using policies that benefit or harm one of the pairs of candidates. Now, there is no candidate pair yet, so it's good, yes, if the president really has a moral commitment to fuss," he said.

Habiburokhman assessed that the meaning of cawe-cawe is helpful. Therefore, Jokowi is expected not to let go of his hands in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"As long as it doesn't violate the applicable rules, we have a ban on campaigns in our regulations and so on," he said.

Previously, Jokowi emphasized that his political behavior was aimed at making the 2024 presidential election run well, without any ripples endangering the country and nation.

Jokowi said that it is his moral responsibility as president during the transitional national leadership in 2024.

"Yes, we must maintain that in the simultaneous national leadership, the presidential election can run well, without any ripples that endanger the country," Jokowi said at a press conference for the Opening of the PDI-P National Working Meeting (Rakernas) III at the Lenteng Agung Party School, South Jakarta, Tuesday (6/6).

Jokowi also admitted that he did not want to remain silent when there was a potential for ripples in the political contestation of the 2024 General Election. The word "riak-riak" itself means moving to overhaul the condition of the surface of the water if it is defined through the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI).

"How come, (if there are) ripples that endanger the nation, I am told to be silent; no," said Jokowi.
