Hanura: It's Impossible For AHY To Pair With Ganjar

JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of Hanura Party Benny Rhamdani assessed that Puan Maharani's statement that Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was included in one of the vice presidential candidates (cawapres) accompanying Ganjar Pranowo for fun.

"Yes, I'm sure Mbak Puan is fun. It's impossible for AHY to be paired with Pak Ganjar," said Benny at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 7.

In fact, continued Benny, Puan Maharani's statement that AHY was included as one of 10 names to consider accompanying Ganjar's future presidential candidate (candidate) was only a lie.

"But, if Mbak Puan mentions Mas (AHY), that's fun, joke," he said, quoted by Antara.

According to him, the determination of the candidate for vice president for Ganjar will be determined by the PDI-P (PDIP) together with other political parties supporting Ganjar in the 2024 presidential election.

"It will definitely sit with the coalition party supporting Pak Ganjar, because it is impossible to only be determined by one of the coalition parties," he explained.

Benny also did not deny that Hanura had a desire to propose a name to PDIP that could be considered for a duet with Ganjar.

"There is a desire for proposals. For example, PAN yesterday suggested Mr. Erick (Thohir), Hanura, for example, who will. Maybe Mr. Erick, maybe, or Mr. Mahfud MD, maybe," he said.

However, Benny continued, the desire to present the name had not been made because the Hanura Party handed over the matter to the General Chairperson of the Hanura Party DPP Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO).

"Not yet, because we leave everything to the general chairman," he said.

Previously, on Tuesday, June 6, PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani revealed a number of names that were considered as candidates for vice presidential candidates to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.

A number of candidates for Ganjar's companion are Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto.

"If I may mention, what is in the media is Mr. Mahfud, the name has been entered. Mr. Erick Thohir, Mr. Ridwan Kamil, Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Mr. AHY, sopo (who is) again Mas? Mr. Airlangga. The names, yes, are included in the map in the PDI-P," said Puan at the PDIP III National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 6.

On Saturday 22 April, OSO said it was ready to win the presidential candidate (candidate) for PDIP support Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election. He said all DPD Hanura Party throughout Indonesia agreed to support Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for the 2024 election.

"On Hanura Party's 2022 Anniversary, we stated that we would determine (the presidential candidate) who was nominated and became his choice (President Joko Widodo). I support Ganjar," said OSO in Jakarta, last Saturday.

To note, registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.
