Integrated Shrimp Power Budi Pond Project In NTT Ready To Start In 2023

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) stated that it is ready to start an integrated-based shrimp farming project in Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara in 2023. The land provided is 1,800 hectares.

"So the plan is that we will make Waingapu this year," said Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono quoting Antara.

He said the pilot project in Waingapu had entered the tender process. "Now it is in the tender process," he added.

He said that the area of land would be able to produce a maximum of 100,000 tons of shrimp production per year. Waingapu's choice as a project location because based on the KKP team's audit, it was found that the water content was good for cultivation and far from settlements and industry so that shrimp could develop properly and optimally.

Previously, President Joko Widodo said, after the pilot project for regional-based shrimp farming ponds (BUBK) in Kebumen, Central Java, was inaugurated, then this model or design would be implemented in Waingapu City, East Nusa Tenggara. "Soon again we will start 1,800 hectares in Waingapu, NTT. The planning design has been completed and this (BUBK Kebumen pond) is copied there," said Jokowi.
