Shipyard Workshop In Bugis Village, Tanjungpinang Ludes Burned
JAKARTA - An electric short circuit is suspected to have triggered a fire at the shipyard workshop in Kampung Bugis, Tanjungpinang.
There were no fatalities in the incident, but the warehouse which functioned as a shipyard workshop was burned down.
"There was also a loud explosion at the ship shop and an investigation is still being carried out," Head of the Fire and Rescue Service of Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands, Hantoni, was quoted as saying by Antara, Saturday, January 23.
He added, 3 ships that were leaning on the workshop were also engulfed by the red rooster. The fire broke out at around 09.30 WIB, last Friday night. The location of the fire is estimated to be about 50 meters from the Kampung Bugis ring bridge pier.
The fire was successfully extinguished by using 2 units of floting pump machines and 1 unit of portable machines, assisted by mobilization by pompong belonging to local miners. As well as from the Tanjungpinang Resort Police, tugboats and clean water miners in the sea from nearby ships.
"The fire extinguishing and cooling process took place until 23.50 WIB," he said.
A local resident who witnessed the fire, Zainal Takdir, stated that the shipyard workshop belonged to a businessman who is familiarly called Combet.
The ship workshop has been operating for decades. A number of residents of Kampung Bugis work depending on their fate in the workshop.
"Pity also for the fate of the workers there, with this incident they certainly lost their livelihoods," said Zainal.
Meanwhile the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Rahma expressed his concern over the events and calamities that had occurred.
Because the previous week, a fire incident also hit the house of a coastal resident in Teluk Keriting.
He appealed to the people of Tanjungpinang to increase their awareness so that this disaster does not happen again.
"The weather is also in extreme conditions. The residents should be careful, especially those who live in coastal areas," said Rahma.
