In Order For This Barbaric Act Not To Be Repeated, Rapists Of Teenagers With Disabilities In Makassar Are Recommended To Be Chemically Castrated
MAKASSAR - The Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of Makassar City, South Sulawesi (Sulsel) has proposed that 3 rapists of girls with disabilities be punished with chemical castration injections.
"If we protect women and children, in principle we have to use child protection punishment. If necessary, this was recently issued by the President (Jokowi), it is related to castration punishment, if it can be enforced," said the Chairman of the Integrated Service Center for Women Empowerment and Child Protection (P2TP2A) Makassar City, Makmur. to VOI, Friday, December 22.
Makmur said that Government Regulation Number 70 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Implementing Chemical Castration, Installation of Electronic Detection Devices, Rehabilitation, and Announcement of the Identity of Perpetrators of Sexual Violence against Children, must be implemented immediately. It is hoped that chemical castration punishment for perpetrators of sexual violence against children can have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators.
"(Chemical castration injection) It is implemented so that there are examples, which can be seen by people that in South Sulawesi, especially in the city of Makassar, this law has been enforced. Because this is an example and a deterrent effect that always occurs in the occurrence of rape of children with special needs, "said Makmur.
The P2TP2A Makassar City is ready to oversee the legal process of the savage case of raping women with disabilities. P2TP2A wants this case to go to trial immediately.
"We will guard this case well. It means we have prepared everything to help P-21 go to the Prosecutor's Office. The most important thing is that the trauma of the child (the victim) is given counseling first so that the trauma will stop," said Makmur.
In this case, one person who raped a woman with a disability was arrested by the police. This perpetrator was also involved in the case of extortion of the victim's mother with threats of distributing rape videos.
"The wanted perpetrator, Angga Saputra, was arrested on Thursday, January 21, in the early hours of the morning at Jalan Hertasning, Makassar," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Criminal Investigation of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kompol Suprianto, to reporters, Friday, January 22.
Perpetrator Angga was involved with his two colleagues, Wr and Gu in raping a minor by picking up the victim on Tuesday, January 19. The victim was picked up on a motorbike.
"The victim was picked up by unknown men who each used a motorbike, and then took the victim away without the parents' knowledge," said Police Commissioner Suprianto.
