In Addition To Adding E-TLE Cameras, Polda Metro Will Also Develop An Enforcement System

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya will not only increase the quantity of e-TLE cameras. The plan, the action system on the camera will also be developed. So, this electronic action can include other violations.

"Of course we will develop not only the number of cameras but also in terms of what types of violations the cameras can catch," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Friday, January 22.

Sambodo said that so far the e-TLE camera could only take action against a number of violations. For example, using cell phones while driving, crossing the stop line, running red lights, and not wearing a safety belt.

With the development of the camera system, we can be sure that it will have a good impact. Because, referring to the current data, with 53 e-TLE cameras installed, the number of violations has decreased, especially at the locations where the cameras are installed.

"At the point where e-tle cameras are installed there is a decrease in the number of traffic violations. So this effectiveness is very effective," said Sambodo.

"Every day we send ticket letters to the houses of the violators, approximately between 600-800 tickets per day from the 53 cameras," he continued.

Previously it was reported that Polda Metro Jaya plans to increase the number of electronic ticketing cameras or E-TLE in the DKI Jakarta area. Currently, around 53 cameras have been installed in the capital city.

"In 2021, we will develop the third stage with the addition of about 50 new cameras," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Sambodo Purmomo Yogo to reporters, Thursday, January 21.

The police plan will submit a proposal to the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta. The submission will be made in the near future.

Later, the dozens of cameras will be installed on TransJakarta routes and toll roads. The location was chosen because the level of violations was still quite high.

"So that drivers who sneak into the busway lane can be caught on camera. Likewise, vehicles violating the speed limit on toll roads can be caught on camera," said Sambodo.
