In Line With The New National Police Chief, Polda Metro Jaya Will Remove Face-to-face Tickets

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya will eliminate face-to-face ticketing. However, the activity was carried out in stages.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said the elimination of prosecution in the field was in line with Komjem Listyo Sigit Prabowo's wish as the elected National Police Chief.

"Yes, gradually (face-to-face tickets are removed)," Sambodo told reporters, Friday, January 22.

But with this face-to-face repression pattern being removed, it doesn't mean that drivers can freely violate the rules. This is because the enforcement pattern will be replaced by an electronic ticketing system or e-TLE.

In fact, this year the installation of e-TLE cameras will be added by 50. Even though, currently 53 cameras have been installed in the DKI Jakarta area.

"Hopefully in the future there will be more," said Sambodo.

Furthermore, Sambodo said that eliminating this face-to-face repression pattern was also very useful during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus reducing the risk of transmission because there is no direct interaction between the offender and the officer.

"On the other hand, during this pandemic, e-TLE is very effective because it reduces the interaction between officers and the community to reduce the risk of transmission," he said.

"And in terms of transparency, this is extraordinary because it eliminates the negotiation process and so on between officers and the community because there is no meeting between officers and the community, so this increases the accountability of the Police," continued Sambodo.
