Government Fulfills Demands, Association Asks Beef Traders To Return To Sales
JAKARTA - The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Meat Traders Association, aka DPP APDI, has asked meat traders to return to trading. This is in line with the demands of the DKI Jakarta APDI management by the government regarding the stabilization of beef cattle prices at the feedlot and RPH levels as well as the price of meat in the market.
"We hereby appeal to our meat traders to be able to trade again, Friday, January 22, 2021," quoted from a letter signed by the Daily Chairperson of the DPP APDI Asnawi, Friday, January 22.
In the letter, Asnawi said the DPP APDI had held a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Trade from 19 to 20 January. From the meeting, the government seriously followed up on the letter sent by the DKI Jakarta APDI management.
Of the two demands, said Asnawi, information was received from the Director General of Domestic Trade Syailendra that the carcass weighing price in the RPH and TPH had been agreed upon by Gapuspindo to be no more than Rp94 thousand per kilogram (kg) or equivalent to the live weight price of a cow of Rp. 46 thousand to Rp. with IDR 47 thousand.
"This is in line with the demand for meat traders throughout Jabodetabek through the coordinator of meat traders together with the Chairman of the DPD APDI DKI, and the government guarantees the availability of beef and meat supplies," Asnawi said.
For your information, a number of beef traders in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi or Jabodetabek areas previously had a sales strike following the recent increase in commodity prices in the market.
The selling strike due to the hike in meat prices is planned to last for three days starting from Wednesday, January 20 to Friday, January 22. This sales strike plan was carried out after the Indonesian Meat Traders Association (APDI) met with a number of policy makers and discussed price conditions in the market.
Then, APDI DKI Jakarta sent a letter asking the government to stabilize the price of beef cattle at the feedloter and RPH levels as well as the price of meat in the market. In addition, they also demanded the government ensure the smooth and availability of beef cattle and meat supplies for traders.
