DPRD Asks DKI To Fix Culverts To Prevent Floods
JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission D DPRD DKI, Syarif asked DKI Pemprov to not only focus on dredging rivers and reservoirs in the face of the rainy season.
Syarif asked DKI to be aware of the threat of flooding from micro channels in the rainy season. This is because if the micro water channels such as sewers and culverts are clogged with garbage, flooding is still unavoidable.
"This (flood) is not only a matter of macro channel with phb (channel), but there is also a micro channel. Could it be, later because the micro channel is considered good (clean) at that time, then left for macro work eh suddenly keteteran (there was flooding in the micro channel), "said Syarif in his statement, Thursday, January 21.
However, Syarif assessed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's readiness to face the rainy season has gone well. Not only dredging the water ropes, DKI has also ensured that pump houses in the Capital City function optimally during the rainy season.
"Until now I have said, the steps of the related agencies can still be expected to deal with floods with all the efforts made, but it needs to be improved on the micro channel," said Syarif.
Syarif admitted that he routinely found officers making flood mitigation efforts. Especially, officers from the Water Resources Service. Among them are dredging mud and garbage in a number of phb channels, rivers, reservoirs, polders, rivers, and so on.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that his party had prepared 487 stationary pumps in 178 locations to deal with potential flooding in the Capital City.
One of the most important water controls in Jakarta is the Pluit pump house located at Jalan Muara Baru, Penjaringan, North Jakarta which continues to be operated optimally for flood control in the downstream area of Jakarta, namely North Jakarta.
"Currently, there are 10 pump units and six generator units with 38 operators," Anies said in his @Aniesbaswedan Instagram account.
"Pump readiness in all pump houses in DKI Jakarta will continue to be optimized so that it is hoped that during the rainy season there will be no problems in operation," Anies continued.
Meanwhile, based on data from the DKI Jakarta SDA Office, 2,974 infiltration wells have been built for flood prevention in DKI Jakarta. The 2,974 infiltration wells were worked on by seven regional agencies in DKI Jakarta.
The SDA Office built 975 points, South Jakarta SDA Sub-dept. 570 points, East Jakarta SDA Sub-dept. 456 infiltration wells. The Central Jakarta SDA Sub-Department built 359 points, West Jakarta SDA Sub-dept. 352 points, the Thousand Islands SDA Sub-Department built 132 points, and 130 infiltration wells in the Monas area.
