Not Yet Met, KPK Asked To Issue A Red Notice For Harun Masiku

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not found PDIP candidate Harun Masiku who has been a fugitive since a year ago. To that end, the KPK was asked to issue a red notice for Harun Masiku.

The request was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman because of the unclear whereabouts of Harun, who is a suspect in the PAW bribery case for DPR members.

"We don't know whether there is information about life or death, at home or abroad. This means that the KPK needs to track abroad by issuing red notice," Boyamin told media crew, Thursday, January 21.

Red notice is a request to find and temporarily detain someone who is considered involved in a criminal case with the status of a suspect and is included in the wanted list (DPO).

Red notice is important because a person's movement is limited when traveling abroad. In addition, countries requesting the issuance of red notices can share information with other Interpol member countries.

According to Boyamin, it is believed that the issuance of red notices could limit Harun Masiku's space, including if he fled abroad by smuggling through the border. Thus, the whereabouts of Harun Masiku can be immediately known alive or dead.

"I also tried to do tracing in two countries, which means abroad because there is some information. This is the principle in order to provide certainty about Harun Masiku's whereabouts, whether alive or dead," he said.

On this occasion, Boyamin appreciated the KPK for forming a special task force team to search for seven corruption suspects who have become fugitives, including Harun Masiku. Boyamin hopes that the team can work optimally in hunting down Harun and the other fugitives.

"If alive, he will immediately be arrested, and processed to court. If he dies, the case will be closed immediately, at SP3. For one of the reasons SP3 died. So this will immediately provide assurance to anyone," said Boyamin.

The case that ensnared Harun Masiku began with the hand-arrest operation (OTT) held by the KPK on January 8. At that time, the KPK Task Force team arrested a number of people, including Wahyu Setiawan and his confidant who were former members of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Agustiani Tio Fridelina.
