East Java Governor Khofifah Still Continues Independent Isolation
SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has been "absent" for 20 days in service, due to independent isolation since testing positive for COVID-19. Khofifah has the status of a person without symptoms (OTG) positive for COVID-19.
"Alhamdulillah, the governor is without symptoms (positive for COVID-19), but is still in independent isolation," said the spokesman for the East Java COVID-19 Task Force, Makhyan Jibril Al Farabi, confirmed on Thursday, January 21.
According to Jibril, the COVID-19 virus in Khofifah's body was safe, because it was no longer contagious after 10 days of self-isolation. However, he said, doctors advised Khofifah to remain in independent isolation until she actually tested negative for COVID-19.
"Actually, 10 days without symptoms has ended. We are not infectious. We just follow the doctor's advice, also consider the public's perception, because not everyone understands it," he said.
Previously, Jibril said Khofifah had twice carried out further swab tests since being confirmed positive for COVID-19. However, the results of the swab made Khofifah have to continue isolating independently.
Despite being self-isolated, Jibril ensured that Khofifah's health condition was good and prime. In fact, said Jibril, during her independent isolation, Khofifah actively engaged in independent activities, such as washing clothes, cooking, exercising and feeding cats.
This activity was also shared by Khofifah through the official Instagram social media account @ khofifah.ip. Khofifah also intensified coordination in the East Java provincial government affairs. "He is also still active in virtual meetings and coordination," said Jibril.
