Boosting Tourism And Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno Maximizes MRT's Potential
JAKARTA - Various things have been done by the government to boost the tourism sector and creative economy. Tomorrow, January 22-23, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, will make a working visit to the Riau Islands (Kepri) in this regard.
Batam and Bintan tourism development is one focus that will be observed and discussed. Moreover, Kepri is one of the main destinations for foreign tourists. This was conveyed by Buralimar, Head of the Riau Islands Tourism Office.
"Kepri is included in the super-priority scale in Indonesia. So, the Minister, please determine the best Kepri tourism program for Riau Islands," he said, Thursday, January 21, quoted by VOI from Antara.
Still related to tourism and economic development, Sandiaga Uno also has an idea to maximize the potential of a mass rapid transit (MRT) station. He wants to make this place a space for tourism and creative economy actors to perform.
"MRT has the potential for showcasing various tourism destinations and is related to technological advances," said Sandiaga, Tuesday, January 19, as reported by Tempo.
One example given is the H. Nawi MRT Station, which provides a coffee culture spot and a travel planner. This, he explained, was done to attract the attention of coffee lovers.
The tourism development that Sandiaga will work on is a collaboration between tourism and the intelligent transport system (ITS). Bali is a place that will be used as a pilot project.
"We plan to make Bali a pilot project for the development and use of smart transportation, where tourists can choose directly by using a digital platform so that it can become tourism based on inclusion in the inner city," explained the Menparekraf.
