Together with Hope's parents, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), as well as Scott's daughter, Cassie, they explore Quantum Realm, interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that will push them beyond their limits. Jonathan Majors also joined this adventure as Kang.
In addition to exploring the new world, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also introduced a new threat in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, namely Kang The Conqueror. Appearing first in the MCU as He Who Remains in the Loki series, Kang The Conqueror's latest version is present at Marvel Studios Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania as the greatest enemy to change the MCU in the future.
Kang The Conqueror has a unique understanding of time, which he will use to conquer the world apart from Quantum Realm.
According to director Pelonton Reed, every Ant-Man film always has a very strong family element. But in Marvel Studios, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, family relationships are deepening and becoming more complicated due to different atmospheres, namely Quantum Realm which turns out to have a lot of threats to them.
Quantum Realm, which was previously introduced in the 2015 film Ant-Man, was finally explored and further explained in this film. Its different atmosphere and unique Quantum Realm creatures, encourage filmmakers to create a world that feels realistic, as if Quantum Realm is hidden between the real worlds.
Director of Payton Reed and Production Designer Will Htay took a lot of inspiration from the 1960s to 1980s comics in creating this world. In addition, filmmakers also use the latest special effects technology called StageCraft LED Volume. With the technology that uses a 360-degree LED panel, the resulting image becomes photorealistiki and has a very subtle transition.
One of the scenes taken using StageCraft LED Volume is the moment where Kang's plane crashed into Quantum Realm to make the environment and atmosphere of space created more realistic and sustainable.
