A Citizen Transmits Corona To Hundred Others, A City In China Total Lockdown

JAKARTA - More than 24 thousand residents of Daxing District, Beijing, China are prohibited from leaving their homes because they have to undergo independent isolation. In that city, there is a resident who transmitted the corona virus to more than a hundred people.

Those who are about to leave the city must first obtain approval from local authorities and show the results of a swab done three days before traveling. This was announced by the COVID-19 prevention and control work unit in Daxing, Thursday, January 21.

The Daxing District Government imposed a total access closure or lockdown in five residential areas after finding several new cases of COVID-19. All public facilities in the district, which are less than two years old and have China's new and largest commercial airport, were closed.

Shops, business offices, hotels, movie theaters and gyms are only allowed to receive visits of 50 percent of capacity. Public transportation in Daxing District can only carry 75 percent of passengers.

In Daxing District, there are seven local residents positive for COVID-19. The residential area in Tiangongyuan Sub-district has become a high-risk area. Meanwhile in Jilin Province, the number of new cases was recorded at 133, 57 of them without symptoms.

The local government has traced the case, which turned out to be from a salesperson who commuted several times from Jilin Province to Heilongjiang Province and held four promotions on January 6-11 in Jilin - where the participants were mostly elderly people.

The salesperson has passed the virus to 102 people, about 60 percent of whom are over 60.
