Jokowi Orders The Java-Bali PPKM To Be Extended Until February 8
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Airlangga Hartato reported the results of a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM).
Airlangga said, Jokowi ordered the provinces of Java and Bali to extend the implementation of PPKM for two weeks, starting from January 26 to February 8.
"Earlier, the president asked that the restrictions on community activities be continued from February 26 to February 8," said Airlangga in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Thursday, January 21.
Airlangga said the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian would issue an instruction from the Minister of Home Affairs to all regional heads who had implemented PPKM to follow the extension directions.
"It is expected that each governor can evaluate based on the parameters of the rate of recovery which is below the national level, the mortality rate is above the national level, the positivity rate is above the national level, and the bed occupancy rate is above the national level. "explained Airlangga.
Separately, the Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Syafrizal added, the indicator that made the government decide to extend the Java-Bali PPKM was the positive rate of specimens examined or the positivity rate that had not decreased.
"Java-Bali has been set for PPKM and the latest figures have not shown a significant reduction in the positive rate. The results of the limited cabinet meeting yesterday afternoon, (PPKM) will be extended for the next two weeks until the amgka shows a decrease or slope," Safrizal explained.
On that basis, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked regional heads that implement PPKM policies, as well as several other regions that have begun to show high levels of indications of the spread of COVID-19 to make improvements to the handling of the corona virus in their respective regions.
"Some areas that show high indications, as well as for regions that impose PPKM are asked to make improvements, improve, in handling health, so that they quickly succeed in reducing and increasing the determined indicator numbers," he said.
