Google Chrome Can Now Easily Detect Typos On URLs
JAKARTA - Google has presented many features in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day recently, but there is one of the most interesting features to embed in its Chrome browser.
This feature can function to detect URL typos (Uniform Resource Locater) and suggest a website based on corrections.
According to Google, in its official blog quoted on Friday, May 19, this feature can increase accessibility for people with dyslexia, language learners, and anyone who makes typos by facilitating access to previously visited websites despite misjaling.
Now, that feature is available on the desktop version of Chrome and will roll out to mobile devices in the coming months.
Recently, Google also added a new function to TalkBack Chrome on Android, to make it easier to manage and set tabs.
Previously, when TalkBack users navigated to the tab diversion, they had an old tab list view, with a limited function.
Now, users will have access to tab lattices with additional features such as tab groups, bulk tab actions, and rearrangements.
Furthermore, Google also emphasizes the wheelchair icon in Maps. Since 2020, users can participate in the Places that Can Be Accessed on Maps to more easily identify if a place has an entry point that can be accessed by wheelchairs, which is marked by a wheelchair icon.
"Now, we make the icon visible to everyone on Maps so you can find out before leaving if there is a step-free entrance, which is useful when you are in a wheelchair, pushing a baby train, or dragging a suitcase," Google explained.
Users can also find more information about parking lots, or toilets on the About tab. Google says this feature works thanks to contributions from business owners Local Guides and the Maps community.
"We can provide wheelchair accessibility information for more than 40 million businesses worldwide. If you see the places you visit do not have accessibility information, you can easily contribute by scrolling to the About tab and selecting Edit feature on Android or Update this place on iOS," Google said.
