Artificial Intelligence Is A Threat To Teacher's Role, Is That True?
JAKARTA - The rapid development of technology generation 4.0, one of which is marked by the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), raises concerns in various fields.
In the labor market, for example, there are concerns that the industry 4.0 will reduce or even eliminate the demand for several types of jobs because they are replaced by machines or AI.
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), in its latest study, stated that there is a potential for 23 million people to be threatened with losing their jobs by 2030 as a result of technological developments and digitization.
This condition needs to be addressed by efforts to develop new skills and competencies so that workers can keep up with the times. Therefore, the education sector has an important role in preparing generations who are able to follow the development of technology and the needs of the times. But on the other hand, the field of education also faces threats with the presence of artificial intelligence.
"There are concerns, one day, artificial intelligence will replace the role of teachers or lecturers," said Prasetiya Mulya University STEM School Dean Dr. Stevanus Winu Wijaya, in a statement received on Friday, May 19.

However, according to him, this concern can be addressed positively. By not seeing the presence of AI as a threat, but as an opportunity to support the education process.
One of the benefits of artificial intelligence in the world of education, said Wisnu, is to make AI a source of knowledge to build new innovations. If used properly, AI can provide a better and better learning experience for students.
Thus, students will be encouraged to become more creative which in the end can play a role in the development of technology itself, by becoming co-creators and innovators of new technologies.
