Tomakaka University Campus Building In Mamuju Changed

JAKARTA - The Tomakaka University Campus Building in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, which was damaged by the earthquake in mid-January 2021 was torn down.

Vice Chancellor of Tomakaka University (Unika), Tri Sulkarnain, said that the earthquake caused the campus building to be damaged and unfit for use, so that it was torn down.

Heavy equipment that will be used to knock down heavily damaged buildings is already in the Unika campus complex.

"Please pray that everything will be smoothed out, for the future of local children who are studying at the Unika campus," said Tri in Mamuju, reported by Antara, Thursday, January 21.

He said that the earthquake did not cause casualties at the Unika campus complex. "We are grateful that there were no casualties in the incident," he said.

The earthquake that hit Mamuju and Majene Regencies caused at least 90 people to die and hundreds of people were injured.

The disaster also caused damage to residents' homes and public facilities and forced around 15,000 people to flee.
