Coordinating Minister For PMK Wants Location Of Flash Flood In Mount Mas Puncak Bogor To Be Planted With Vetiver

CISARUA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Muhadjir Effendy wants the location of flash floods in the Gunung Mas Complex, Puncak Area, Cisarua, Bogor, West Java to be planted with vetiver trees. This tree is said to be able to anticipate subsequent landslides or floods.

"I recommend planting more densely planted trees so that the environment can be safe," he said accompanied by the Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin while visiting the disaster site, Wednesday, January 20.

According to him, the results of discussions with PTPN as the owner of the Gunung Mas area indicated that the state-owned company was willing to reproduce hard-rooted plants such as veriver.

"Later we will see how much capacity is needed, whether there needs to be support from related agencies or the Ministry of Forestry, then BNPB, or simply PTPN. I will also talk to the BUMN minister," said Muhadjir.

Even so, Muhadjir did not see any serious environmental problems from the flash flood incident due to the overflow of the Ciliwung tributary that passed through the PTPN VIII tea plantation.

"The flash flood incident is mainly due to the enormous amount of rainfall, because of the torrential rain. In terms of the environment, as far as I have observed, including reports from PTPN, it is actually still well maintained," he said.

Previously, the Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin, said that the incident that took place on Tuesday, January 19, that morning, damaged four houses and one shop, and submerged dozens of houses.

As many as 180 families (KK) with 714 people fled to places deemed safe.
