Indonesia's Trade Balance Surplus 3.94 Billion US Dollars In April 2023
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that Indonesia's trade balance in April 2023 again experienced a surplus of US$3.94 billion.
"Indonesia's trade balance has again recorded a surplus of US$3.94 billion. This surplus has occurred for 36 consecutive months since May 2020," said Deputy for Methodology and Statistics Information of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Imam Machdi quoting Antara.
Imam said the April 2023 surplus strengthened compared to the previous month, although it was recorded lower than April 2022.
According to Imam, the trade balance surplus came from the non-oil and gas sector amounting to US $ 5.64 billion, but was induced by a deficit in the oil and gas sector worth US $ 1.70 billion.
During January-April 2023, although the oil and gas sector experienced a deficit of 6.01 billion US dollars, there was still a surplus in the non-oil and gas sector of 22.06 billion US dollars, bringing the total to a surplus of 16.05 billion US dollars.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's export value in April 2023 reached 19.29 billion US dollars, down 17.62 percent compared to exports in March 2023. Compared to April 2022, the export value decreased by 29.40 percent.
Indonesia's import value in April 2023 reached 15.35 billion US dollars, down 25.45 percent compared to March 2023 or down 22.32 percent compared to April 2022.
