PPP Still Files Sandiaga Uno As Candidate For Accompanying Ganjar Pranowo
Deputy Chairperson of the United Development Party (PPP) Arsul Sani said that his party would continue to propose the name of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno to become a candidate for vice president (bakal cawapres) who accompanies the presidential candidate (bakal capres) Ganjar Pranowo.
"What is clear is that we have submitted Pak Sandi's name. However, we also have to prepare other names," said Arsul Sani to reporters at the Istora Senayan Building, Jakarta, Sunday, May 14.
The other names prepared by PPP are SOE Minister Erick Thohir, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
"Well, there is also the name of the Minister of Religion Gus Yaqut," said Arsul Sani after attending the peak of the Jokowi volunteer community deliberation (musra) event.
During the event, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Musra Indonesia Andi Gani Nena Wea said the musra committee handed over three presidential candidates, namely the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, the Minister of Defense and General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto, and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy who is also the General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto.
Meanwhile, the names of vice presidential candidates submitted were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, Chief of Staff President Moeldoko, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Arsjad Rasjid.
Until now, PPP has not announced Sandiaga Uno as a cadre. On Sunday (23/4), Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said goodbye from Gerindra and apologized to the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto.
Sandiaga Uno from the Gerindra Party came amid the issue of Sandiaga Uno joining PPP. Sandiaga several times said he would support Prabowo Subianto's candidacy as president. However, he often attended PPP events.
