Dream Theater Never Redupts Because Progressive Music Is A Lifestyle

JAKARTA - When everyone 'ends up on Coldplay', my friend Dream Theater istiqamah supports their favorite band. Selling tickets to a progressive metal dedengkot concert from the US to witness Chris Martin et al's performance at the end of the year, is not in their big dictionary.

Before continuing to read this article. It should be understood. We are not comparing the fame of these two bands. Or, maybe judging who the audience is'most Dream Theater' or'most Coldplay'.

But, in fact, in the Dream Theater concert which was initiated by the promoter of Rajawali Indonesia at Ecopark Ancol, Jakarta on Friday, May 12, there were no posers.

"Bosen menonton band itu lagi, itu lagi. Dream Theater kan sudah empat kali konfer di Indonesia. Kaya kayak tidak ada band lain lagi," sindir salah satu netizen di media sosial beberapa hari sebelum acara dihelat.

His words are not wrong. But, he is also not completely true. A die-hard fan, will not be influenced by what other people say. His loyalty to idol bands exceeds the level of love for his husband to his wife or vice versa.

The Dream Theater concert titled Last Stop On Top of the World Tour is still practiced by progressive music enforcers. The type of nusik complicated that needs to be heard when we listen to it. In fact, it was originally thought that this concert would be quiet. Understandably, James LaBrie et al have made their feet in Indonesia for the fifth time. Previously, twice in Jakarta and once in Yogyakarta and Solo, respectively.

And what was even more shocking. In addition to old songs such as Pull Me Under and Solidary Shell, many viewers actually sing along on songs taken from new albums, A View from the Top of the World which won the Grammy Award, including The Alient, Sleeping Giant, Answers The Call, and Transcending Time.

This means, fans of pure Dream Theater do continue to follow wherever the idol band goes. They are not fixated on old songs just to reminisce. Sometimes, things like this are difficult to understand. What are you looking for from new songs that weren't as strong as Mike Portnoy's era? Drummers and producers who are good at 'work' songs.

But, that's the relationship between fans and idols. They can pull each other out or say'magnet'. Fans of this type collect all the tapes, CDs and DVD, even willing to pay dearly for watching their idol concerts both at home and abroad. They can easily recognize that the vocalist replaces a line of lyrics or when the guitarist's finger is attached to the concert time.

"Jari John Petrucci is no longer old," complained one of the audiences in the Festival A area commenting on the game of his idol. Impressed, the audience is better than his idol. However, this actually proves that he has never let go of his idol's views.

Apart from Petrucci's marginalization which is considered not agile, and James LaBrie's vocal quality has dropped drastically and the sound of no balance in the song Caught in the Web, Dream Theater is still able to anesthetize with his jelite music. They don't need a type of audience that just dissolves in the euphoria for a moment.

Dream Theater is never dim because progressive music is a lifestyle.
