BPBD: The Number Of Residents Affected By The Flood In Banjarmasin Reaches 100 Thousand People

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) has released the latest data on residents affected by flooding from January 14-20. The total reached 100 thousand residents.

The details, East Banjarmasin, the number of residents affected by the flood is around 45 thousand people or around 15 thousand heads of families (KK). A total of 1,585 families or 3,701 people had to flee to a safer place.

"The height of the floodwaters in the East Banjarmasin area is between 50 cm and 1.2 meters," wrote the official report of the Banjarmasin BPBD as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 20.

Furthermore, in the district of South Banjarmasin, there are 7 urban villages that were affected by the flood. The affected residents were 18,089 people or 7,123 families, of which 862 people or 346 families had to flee.

The BPBD of Banjarmasin City also noted that in the district of Central Banjarmasin there were also 7 urban villages that were affected, but the residents who were affected were much less than the North Banjarmasin area which only 2 villages were affected.

In North Banjarmasin, namely, Sungai Andai and Sungai Jingah Villages with a total of 33,760 people affected or nearly 10 thousand families. Where 66 families or 136 people have to flee.

Meanwhile in Central Banjarmasin, with its seven urban villages affected, the total number of people affected by standing water is 940 families or 3,219 people, of which 23 families or 65 people have to flee.

Meanwhile, for West Banjarmasin Subdistrict, Banjarmasin City BPBD did not record any urban villages that were affected by the flood.

Until now, there have been no reports of casualties in the flood disaster in Banjarmasin City. However, the records of victims affected by this flood continued to increase, namely, from the previous day around 29 thousand people or around 10 thousand families.

The city of Banjarmasin has declared a flood emergency response status since January 15. Posko and public kitchens are concentrated in sub-districts whose areas are flooded.
