Police Secure Grenades And Bullets At Pakis Surabaya
JAKARTA - The police have secured the finding of a grenade and three bullets under the Jalan Pakis bridge, Sawahan District, Surabaya.
Surabaya Sawahan Police Chief, Kompol Wisnu Setyawan, informed that a number of explosives that were suspected to be still active were found by officers from the Surabaya City Government Cleanliness and Green Open Space (DKRTH) Centralization Task Force who were cleaning rivers in the Jalan Pakis area of Surabaya.
"As a follow up, the DKRTH team contacted the police. Then we from the Sawahan Police, together with three pillars, came to the location," he told reporters in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 20.
After that the police carried out sterilization by closing the road around the location of the discovery.
Surabaya Polrestabes immediately deployed an Identification Team (INAFIS). Meanwhile, the East Java Regional Police deployed a Bomb Squash Team (Jibom) led by Ipda Hendra.
According to Kompol Wisnu, the East Java Regional Police Jibom Team managed to secure the finding of a grenade and three bullets from under the Jalan Pakis bridge at around 12:15 WIB.
"The indication is the pineapple grenade, along with three bullets have been successfully secured. Subsequently taken to the East Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory to be examined whether it is still active or not," he said.
Kompol Wisnu described the condition of the pineapple grenade and the three bullets that were found to be rusted.
"The grenade and three bullets were found in a separate location not far from under the Jalan Pakis bridge. So they were not found in one package," he said.
Kompol Wisnu confirmed that in the area around the discovery, a search had also been carried out to determine whether there were other similar explosives.
"After sweeping, the result was only a grenade and three bullets were found," said Kompol Wisnu.
