Trending Back, Shrug Sweaters Ever Popular Two Decades Ago

JAKARTA - Fashion trends often rotate, which were once popular will be popular again. As well as layer clothes. The outer style that covers the sleeves and neck was a trend a decade ago.

This style is known as the shrug style, which is making a comeback this year. Initially, the chaquetilla jacket worn by bull fighting Matador from Spain, inspired Balenciaga and Schiaparelli in the early 20th century.

Launching from Refinery29, Balenciaga and Schiaparelli once designed a neck covering bolero that creates a romantic impression. Balenciaga's own clothing designs are stored in the House of Balenciaga, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

A century later the micro-top, another name for the shrug sweater, evolved from the romantic style to the mainstay of teenagers.

Shrugs were popular to wear to parties and youth events throughout the late 90's to early 2000's. And this year, crop sweaters are back.

Many women combine spaghetti tail sleeveless tops with knitted sweaters that only cover the neck to the arms. The cut for the body will stop at the top to the middle of the chest.

Not to forget, Peter Do released an army green knit shrug combined with matching color clothes.

In general, a shrug is an outfit that looks like a cardigan or sweater. Cut short and long sleeves, usually knitted and mostly worn by women. When used, its function is similar to a scarf because it only covers certain parts of the body, especially the shoulders.

Designers are never uniform in designing their work. There are also those who created turtleneck shrug designs. Shrug, usually used as the outermost layer of clothing, for example, can be combined with shirts, tank tops, dresses or formal dresses.

The impression created when wearing a shrug sweater is like a bull fighting. The shoulders appear to be lifted up, making it even more outstanding. If it's made of non-falling material such as knitting yarn, the shrug will be in the shape of a bolero and give off a formal feel.

The shrug styles are infinitely free. Can be combined with various types of clothing, from casual, feminine to formal wear. With the right combination, shrug sweaters can also be worn all season long.
