Hoax Spreader Kasdim 0817 Killed After Covid-19 Vaccine Arrested, Police Aim For Other Actors

JAKARTA - The Gresik Regency Police, East Java, has arrested the suspected perpetrator of the hoax vaccination that killed Kasdim 0817, Major Sugeng Riyadi.

The arrest of the perpetrator with the initials TS (44) who lives in Gresik, East Java, after the Gresik Police Unit and the East Java Regional Police's cyber team conducted an investigation.

"What this perpetrator has done is related to the Indonesian government's program of vaccination," said Deputy Head of East Java Regional Police, Brigadier General Slamet Hadi Supraptoyo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 20.

Slamet appealed to all people to support the vaccination program as an effort to avoid and be free of COVID-19.

"Let's secure the government's ongoing vaccination process," he explained.

Investigators are still developing the possibility of other actors in the hoax news. "While still developing whether there is a network or not," added the Head of the Gresik Police, AKBP Arief Fitrianto.

Previously, the perpetrator made the hoax news content of Kasdim 0817 Gresik Major Infantri Sugeng Riyadi's death after being injected with the Sinovac vaccine at Ibnu Sina Hospital.

The perpetrator obtained a photo of the funeral of a member of the Koramil who at that time was Danramil Kebomas Mayor Kav Gatot Supriyono from a text message.

Then the photo was copied and added with the narrative 'Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rojiun', the first vaccine, Kasdim 0817 Gresik, Major Sugeng Riadi died as a result of the afternoon injection of the vaccine.

Regarding the threat of punishment, the perpetrator was charged under Article 45A paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No.19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning information and electronic transactions Jo Article 28 Paragraph 1 of Indonesian Law No. 11 th 2008 concerning information and electronic transactions.
