Ratu Atut Presents Criminal Experts At The PK Session Of Akil Mochtar Bribery

JAKARTA - The Judicial Review (PK) trial proposed by former Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah is still being held at the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) which is at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).

Ratu Atut filed a PK for the case that caught him. Namely the bribery case against the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Akil Mochtar to win the lawsuit of the Lebak regent and deputy regent candidate pair Amir Hamzah-Kasmi at the Constitutional Court.

"We have received the evidence of the letter, we will separate it. The evidence must have a translation, an official translation," said the head of the panel of judges PK Rianto Adam Ponto at the Jakarta Corruption Court, reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 20.

"The proof of the letter is sufficient, we will complete it later," said Ratu Atut's legal adviser, TB Sukatma.

Ratu Atut, who was present in person at the trial, was seen wearing a yellow veil with a brown top.

"Today we bring in a criminal expert, namely Choirul Huda, a criminal law expert as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta," said Sukatma.

Sukatma also plans to present a digital forensic expert. "Then in the next trial we will present a digital forensic expert," said Sukatma.

In this case, based on the first instance court verdict on September 1, 2014, Ratu Atut Chosiyah was sentenced to 4 years in prison and a fine of IDR 200 million, a subsidiary of 5 months in prison.

The Supreme Court then increased Atut's sentence to 7 years in prison in February 2015.

In addition to being proven guilty of giving bribes to Akil Mochtar, Ratu Atut was also sentenced to 5.5 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 250 million, a subsidiary of 3 months in prison for being proven to have committed corruption in the procurement of medical devices for the Banten Province Referral Hospital and extorting his men.
