Jonatan Christie Ran Aground In The First Round Of Thailand Open II
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles Jonathan Christie stopped in the first round of the Toyota Thailand Open 2021 after losing to India's representative Prannoy HS, Wednesday.
In a match that lasted 75 minutes at Impact Arena, Bangkok, the world number seven player was forced to surrender with a score of 18-21, 21-16, 23-21.
Launching Antara, this defeat was recorded as the third time for Jonathan against Prannoy, from a total of six meetings between the two.
Jonatan Christie started the first game with a 6-2 lead. Prannoy kept trying to cut the gap to 10-9 before Jonathan closed the interval with a score of 11-9.
This positive trend was able to be maintained by the men's singles number seven in the world to continue to control the game. Prannoy was only able to equalize at 17-17.
But not long after, Jonathan was able to respond by posting four points in a row to win the first game with a score of 21-18.
Entering the second game, the match went more difficult with the two players involved in a chase for points. After the 3-3 draw, Jonathan must be willing to concede five points in a row without reply. Prannoy took over the match 8-3.
Jonathan immediately responded with four points in a row. But Prannoy still led with a score of 11-8 ahead of the break of the second half.
After the interval, Jonathan was unable to do much because he was immediately behind 11-18. Luckily, Jonathan immediately got up by strengthening his defense while playing a rally.
Jonathan slowly began to erode the gap by scoring five points without reply. But the match had to continue into a rubber game after Prannoy won the second game with a score of 16-21.
In the third game, Jonathan took the initiative to attack by winning 3-0 first. However, after a 7-7 draw, Prannoy turned 11-8 ahead at the interval.
After the break, Jonathan attacked back to turn things around to 18-14. Furthermore, Jonatan's own mistake was used by Prannoy to balance the position to 18-18.
Prannoy, who had taken a medical break near the end of the match, immediately got up to take the decisive game with a score of 23-21.
