Honor Makes A New Smartphone With Google Mobile Services

JAKARTA - Honor, a company that was recently fully acquired by Zhixin New Information Technology Co. Ltd is currently in the midst of forging new relationships with partners and suppliers.

While making deals with parts suppliers, the company is also working to get back support from Google.

As per the latest report from Kommersant, Russia's leading newspaper, Google Mobile Services (GMS) or Google Mobile Services will be back on Honor devices soon.

This is mainly because the company is no longer a part of Huawei and as such, the sanctions imposed by the United States on the Chinese giant no longer apply to Honor.

It was further stated that the return of Google services from Honor smartphones could also occur in the spring or around the end of 2021.

Currently, the company is also working on two new smartphone lines that will have support for GMS. With the return of the GMS, all the official support for Android and other Google apps is back.

In addition, with the presence of GMS again, new devices launched in the future do not need to be implanted with Huawei AppGallery. However, old devices will still have AppGallery.

So far, Honor has launched non-GMS phones for more than 18 months resulting in massive losses in markets such as Europe and Russia.

In May 2019, Donald Trump, then US President, signed an executive order banning Huawei from dealing with American companies, cutting off access to Google services and more.

Since Honor at that time was a sub-brand of Huawei, the device was also exposed to the sap, aka it couldn't use GMS either. To ensure the brand survives, Huawei sold Honor in November last year.

The next big thing about Honor is the V40 series, however the phone is still being developed under Huawei ownership and will naturally come with Magic UI and no GMS access.

The changes are likely to affect Honor X11 and Honor 40 phones. It would be surprising if the company decided to introduce new qualifications, marking its independence and a fresh start.
