Many Suri Dead Terminals, Surabaya DPRD: Needs To Be Re-optimized Its Function

SURABAYA With so many terminals in the City of Heroes, East Java, which have died from suri or are empty of passengers, Commission C for the Development of the Surabaya City DPRD stated that the terminal function needs to be optimized so that it is crowded again. Chairman of Commission C DPRD Surabaya Baktiono in Surabaya, Saturday, said that there are a number of terminals in Surabaya that are quiet from passengers such as Tambak Osowilangun Terminal (TOW), Joyoboyo Intermodal Terminal (TIJ) and Bratang Terminal. "Every day or outside the moment of Eid is quiet from passenger activity. Intercity interprovincial (AKAP) buses are almost non-existent. Even intercity buses in the province (AKDP) are also limited, only a few routes or routes are available," he said. Therefore, Baktiono asked the Surabaya City Government to optimize the TOW so that passengers can be more active. "Terminal as in TOW is not optimal, so it needs to be optimized again for bus terminals. So that it will be crowded again," he said. Moreover, he continued, the Purabaya Terminal has now been taken transfers by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) so that local revenues (PAD) in Surabaya are certainly reduced. In fact, he suggested that the existence of online transportation can enter the terminal to make it easier for passengers to choose destinations in the city. In addition, small and medium micro enterprise booths (MSMEs) can also be placed in the terminal to support passenger needs as well. "That's why we hope that there will be innovations carried out by the Mayor of Surabaya (Eri Cahyadi) to place the MSME booth or traders at the terminal," he said. Good road access support also determines the level of crowd from the terminal. In addition, the existence of the toll road which is currently being built by the West Outer Ring Road (JLLB) must also be completed immediately. "Roads and toll roads also need to be optimized. Moreover, later we will propose in RTRW later for the city of Surabaya to face the sea as abroad," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6. Not only in TOW, he said, other terminals such as TIJ and Terminal Bratang also needs innovation so as not to die in his whereabouts and functions. "Dishub must also think about making the terminal busy," said Baktiono. As is known, the Purabaya Terminal is a type A terminal built by the Surabaya City Government. Even though it is located in Sidoarjo Regency, there is a profit sharing between the Surabaya City Government and the Sidoarjo Regency Government. However, on its way the Purabaya Terminal was taken over by the Ministry of Transportation.

It's just that, according to Baktiono, after the management of the Purabaya Terminal was taken over by the Ministry of Transportation, there were many complaints from the public regarding management and terminal maintenance. "The Purabaya Terminal should be able to be centralized and autonomous in the regions," he concluded
