The Minister Of Home Affairs Admits That He Has Reminded The KPU And Bawaslu About The Disqualification Of Pilkada Candidates
JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said that he had reminded the KPU and Bawaslu to end disqualifying the candidate pairs for regional heads if the KPU had almost determined the winner.
"If there is indeed a disqualification, it should be carried out before the determination of the winning candidate pair. That is what we also convey to Mr. Abhan (Chairman of Bawaslu RI) as well as to the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU (former Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Arief Budiman). Without taking sides," said Tito. , Tuesday, January 19.
According to him, the decision to annul the winning results of certain parties directly with the election organizers 'hands' is highly vulnerable from a security point of view.
Because, said Tito, it is impossible for the candidate pair who have won to accept disqualification by the election organizer.
"How can that be. The investment has been for years, building a network that is not cheap, after that there is a match and no violations are reported in the middle (of the match). After winning (it is reported). If it is reported that it is the loser, maybe it is okay. But what was reported was the winner, so it seemed as if they were using the organizer's "hand" to break the victory. From a security point of view, it was vulnerable, "said Tito.
Therefore, Tito said that if there are election and regional election violations that have only been reported to the organizers after the winner is almost announced by the KPU, it should be directed to the Constitutional Court (MK).
"It is cooler than being broken there with such a verdict," said Tito.
