The Vice Regent Of Bogor On The Flash Flood In Puncak Cisarua Bogor: There Is No Illegal Logging Here
CISARUA - Deputy Regent of Bogor Iwan Setiawan revealed the reason for the flash flood in the Gunung Mas area to be precise in Tugu Selatan Village, Puncak Area, Cisarua, West Java.
"Because the intensity of the water (rain) is quite high, and there are blocks that hold the water, it will cause a flood (flash flood)," he said while reviewing the location of the flood, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 19.
According to him, the water that empties from the Ciliwung River had dammed into a waterfall because it was blocked by debris. Then the water-retaining debris broke down because it could not hold it back.
The intensity of rain for several days in the southern region of Bogor Regency is considered high. BMKG even recorded the rainfall in the Gunung Mas area on Tuesday morning with the status of heavy rain with rainfall of 107.5 mm per day.
The Gerindra politician also confirmed that the incident was not caused by the cutting of trees in areas categorized as protected forest.
"Here is a protected forest, here there are no buildings on it there is no logging, there is a waterfall. If you look at the area here, it is very sterile from illegal logging or there are no buildings," said Iwan.
The flood that occurred due to the flow of the Ciliwung tributary passing through the PTPN VIII tea plantation damaged several residents' houses and closed several access roads.
BPBD Bogor Regency noted that 134 families (KK) with 474 people had to flee to mosques and places that were considered safe, because there were concerns that further flash floods could occur again.
