Greysia / Apriyani Wins First Match In Thailand Open II

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's doubles Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu won the opening match of the Toyota Thailand Open 2021 (Thailand Open II) by eliminating the host pair Puttita Supajirakul / Sapsiree Taerattanachai at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Tuesday.

At the beginning of the first game, Greysia / Apriyani had already received resistance from Puttita / Sapsiree. They stole points faster than Indonesian representatives. However, their speed was only up to a 6-6 draw.

After that, Greysia / Apriyani turned to lead the match. They played faster and swiftly to outperform the Thai representative. Not overtaken, Greysia / Apriyani won the first game with a score of 21-12.

Entering the second game, Puttita / Sapsiree played more aggressively. This time, they were able to undermine Greysia / Apriyani's domination. Even though the scores have drawn several times, Puttita / Sapsiree has often managed to secure points afterwards.

The pair from the land of white elephants continued to advance, while Greysia / Apriyani, who had just won the Yonex Thailand Open, was left behind until they finally lost 14-21.

In the decisive game, Greysia / Apriyani, the fifth seed, played with enthusiasm. As if they wanted to avenge their defeat in the second game, they appeared fierce and kept pressing their opponents with very strong blows.

Puttita / Sapsire is totally overwhelmed by it. There is no more space for them to strike back. In the end, the Garuda representative won a landslide score of 21-8.

The two couples previously met in the second round of the Yonex Thailand Open 2021 which was held last week. At that time, Greysia / Apriyani won in two straight games with results 21-18, 21-13.
