Mengulik Inarisk, A Useful Application To Monitor Disaster Risk

JAKARTA - A number of areas in Indonesia are experiencing natural disasters. The government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) continues to map information on disaster event data in Indonesia.

One of them is through the InaRISK application, which was launched by BNPB four years ago. This application is useful for informing potential disaster risks in each area in Indonesia.

The data and information displayed by InaRISK are useful for analyzing potential disasters in their respective regions. So that related agencies, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (KemenPUPR) can act quickly in dealing with disaster risks.

Through the InaRISK application, the users can identify the potential disaster risks in each area. Disasters such as floods, flash floods, earthquakes, extreme weather, extreme waves and abrasion, forest fires, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, and other multi-hazard disasters.

The InaRISK application is available on Android and macOS, and can be accessed via the InaRISK.bnpb.go.id page. The public can accuse this application for free on the Play Store for Android users and the Apple Store for macOS users.

BNPB claims this application can help the community in taking disaster mitigation steps and taking action when a disaster occurs. This application can translate all scientific calculations of potential cross-sectoral disasters in simpler language so that it is easily understood by the public.

"This is a tool for disseminating information studies, risk mapping, and data integration. This application provides everything from hazards to studies," said Ridwan Yunus, one of InaRISK's developers at a press conference at Graha BNPB, in 2019.

InaRISK users can also enter the name of the area, either the district or province where they live, then specify the type of potential disaster they want to know. Later this application will display various other information related to the area being studied.

Apart from flooding, you can also install other settings for potential flash floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and tsunamis. It's next to the location area column.

Not only does it inform the study of a disaster in an area, this application also provides education on how to prevent and mitigate steps that must be taken by the community when in a potentially disaster area.

In fact, this application also provides information on adequate public facilities as a gathering location or temporary shelter, for example schools to hospitals.

This information is based on several parameters, including the number of population - BPS data The number of houses, public facilities, critical facilities - data from BPS, BIG, and local government PDRB data - local government data Land cover data - KLHK and BIG.
