Police-TNI Check Tourist Ships For ASEAN Summit In Labuan Bajo
LABUAN BAJO - West Manggarai Police and Labuan Bajo Naval Base (Lanal) together with the Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Labuan Bajo checked the feasibility of tourist ships ahead of the ASEAN 2023 Summit on 9-11 May.
"We are examining the ship's feasibility to ensure the safety and comfort of state guests," said Head of the West Manggarai Police Polairud Unit AKP I Wayan Merta in Labuan Bajo as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 3.
The examination is a form of security certainty for delegations who want to visit tourist attractions during the ASEAN 2023 Summit or ASEANSummit.
Tourist ships will be used by delegates or tourists to tourist sites, such as Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island.
During the inspection of the tourist boat at Labuan Bajo Port, the West Manggarai Police together with Lanal Labuan Bajo and KSOP Labuan Bajo ensured that the ship's safety, navigation and condition were functioning properly.
The most important things that are prioritized in the examination are the availability of buoys, communication tools, and tools for the global dose system (GPS).
"The provider of the ship is required to provide life jackets for a number of passengers and an additional 10 percent," he said.

In addition to inspecting ships, officers also appealed to ship owners to mix their ships to the prepared areas, namely Monkey Island, Waecicu Waters, and Pede Beach.
This applies during the activities of the ASEAN 2023 Summit so as not to interfere with the smooth flow of shipping, route systems, traffic procedures, and anchoring areas according to their interests during this international activity.
"We urge ships to be moved to the anchoring area from April 28, 2023 yesterday until May 13, 2023," he said.
