After The Discovery Of A Body At Kualanamu Airport, Angkasa Pura Aviasi Is Asked To Increase Security

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation asked PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi as the sole accountable at Kualanamu Airport to increase the security aspect.

The request follows the discovery of a body under the elevator inside the Kualanamu International Airport terminal, Medan on Thursday, April 27.

The Director General of Civil Aviation, M. Kristi Endah Murni, said that his party had communicated with PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi regarding the discovery of the corpse.

Furthermore, Kristi claimed to have sent a warning letter to PT. Angkasa Pura Aviasi which is obliged to ensure safety, security, and service at the airport.

"We have spoken with the airport operational person in this case Angkasa Pura Aviasi, for that I have ordered to further improve aspects of safety, security, and comfort at the airport and immediately repair damaged facilities," Kristi said in an official statement, Sunday, April 30.

In addition, Kristi also ordered the Regional II Airport Authority Office to further increase supervision of airport services in its working area so that similar incidents do not happen again.

In this case, the Directorate General of Hubud and also Angkasa Pura Aviasi submitted the investigation process to the Kualanamu Airport Sector Police. As for the handling process, the victim was carried out by the Deli Serdang Police.

"For safety and investigation purposes, for the time being the elevator for the Crime Scene/TKP (left side) and the elevator on the right side will not work until the investigation is complete," explained Kristi.

In order to avoid similar incidents from recurring, the Directorate General of Hubud will conduct an evaluation after the results of the investigation from the police have been released and the cause is known.
