Combine Beatles And Metallica, Beatallica Parody Bands Prepare New Album
JAKARTA - Beatallica, a satire band that combines the Beatles' songwriting skills with Metallica's metal growls, has signed a contract with Metal Assault Records.
The band's fourth full-length album - and their first in more than seven years - is due out later in 2021.
Metal Assault was first introduced to Beatallica in 2010 when the band toured the West Coast and performed at the now-defunct Key Club in West Hollywood. At that time, Beatallica put on a unique show that only them could do.
Subsequently, Metal Assault interviewed Beatallica and tracked the band's progress over the years, as they toured around the world, garnering a global fan base, to praise from Metallica members as well as journalists.
While we are waiting for the release of Beatallica's new album, Metal Assault Records has added the previous three full albums for purchase at the band's new Bandcamp store.
Beatallica's third full-length album, Abbey Load, was released in April 2013 via Oglio Records.
In 2005, Beatallica members received assistance from Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich amid their dispute with Sony Music over "unauthorized use" of the group's composition "without permission or license."
Sony Music accused Beatallica of violating copyright laws, demanded their webmaster pay "unspecified damages," and forced the band's ISP to shut down their website.
Thanks to Ulrich's efforts, Beatallica is immediately back online, and the legal disaster is over.
Beatallica vocalist Jaymz Lennfield (aka Michael "Tinker" Tierney) later told River Cities' Reader that he believed his band's music had legal protection from parody.
"We think we are making something new, especially lyrically," he said. "This is clearly a creative process ... Legally and creatively, things like this have never been done before," he said.
