Menkominfo Johnny Plate Targets Fast Internet In Super Priority Tourist Destinations To Be Carried Out In 2022
JAKARTA - Accelerating tourism development in super priority destinations is the focus of the government. Not only building roads, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is also accelerating information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure. The goal is that fast internet can be enjoyed in super priority tourist destinations.
The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, said that his party would continue the ICT infrastructure development programs in the 3T or outermost, underdeveloped, and foremost areas in Indonesia. This includes super priority destinations according to the mandate of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
This was conveyed by Johnny G. Plate after meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno to discuss the infrastructure development program for super priority tourist destinations.
"We will invite cellular operators to simultaneously complete ICT development, especially in commercial areas. Later, in 2022, the telecommunication network or signal availability in administrative areas and residential areas will be implemented," he said, during a virtual press conference, Monday, January 18.
Johnny said he was ready to support tourism activities and activities based on smart travelers and smart destinations which were being discussed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Not only that, Johnny also ensures that his party will move quickly to provide adequate 4G signal coverage, both speed and quality.
"We will also conduct digital outreach and training for local SMEs," said Johnny.
On the same occasion, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno welcomed the commitment of the Ministry of Communication and Information in helping improve information and communication technology infrastructure in tourist areas. Sandi assessed that this collaborative step was one of the right efforts to prepare infrastructure totality in super priority destinations.
"ICT is no longer additional infrastructure but the main infrastructure. Because once we land in 5 super priority destinations we will turn on our smartphones and we are very dependent on signal coverage," he said.
In the future, Sandi hopes that this collaboration can also create a good public communication platform. So that not only in super priority destinations, the focus of development is carried out, but in all areas of tourism and Indonesia's creative economy.
With this collaboration, Sandi said, his party could encourage the implementation of strict and disciplined health protocols in accordance with the guidelines for cleanliness, health, safety, environmental sustainability (CHSE).
"We also received a commitment from the Minister of Communication and Information to encourage the creative economy, especially MSMEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully with this collaboration, we can recover not only from a health perspective, but also revive the economy, especially in the tourism sector and the creative economy. , "he said.
