Pep Guardiola Umbar Ambition To Beat Arsenal At Etihad
JAKARTA Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his ambition to beat Arsenal to keep his team's chances of defending this year's Premier League title.
City will host Arsenal in Week 33 of England's top caste at the Etihad Stadium, Thursday, April 27. This duel is considered a key match in the title race this season.
"The match against Arsenal on Thursday is final. [We will] against the team that has been the best team in England so far and is five points ahead of us," Guardiola was quoted as saying on the Manchester City website.
Currently Arsenal lead the top of the standings with a collection of 75 points. City as the only closest competitor they trailed in second place with a collection of 70 points.
However, Arsenal have played 32 games so far or won two games from City. Therefore, the chance of The Citizens is still very big.
If you lose at City's home in the middle of this week, the Gunners' chances of ending the league title drought since 2004 could be blocked. Moreover, this visit was after a series of poor results were obtained by Mikel Arteta's squad.
"Hopefully that day all of Manchester will be blue and can come to support us because we need a great voice from the first minute to the end because I know which opponents we will face," said Guardiola.
Arsenal attended this match after three consecutive draws against Liverpool, West Ham United, and Southampton.
However, Guardiola remains reluctant to underestimate the London team. He predicts Meriam London will definitely prepare a surprise to take care of their chance.
"I know that even though they have drawn in the last three games, the way they played in the big part of the game, is almost difficult to stop. You have to read exactly what to do," said Guardiola.
