Bridge Collapsed Due To Floods In South Kalimantan, Jokowi: I Ask The Minister Of Public Works, 3-4 Days To Finish
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has checked the damage to a number of infrastructure, the evacuation process to the distribution of logistics in 10 flood-affected districts and cities in South Kalimantan (Kalsel).
"I just want to confirm to the field, first regarding the infrastructure damage that did occur, there were several bridges that collapsed as we can see behind this, this is also one of the bridges that collapsed due to flooding," said President Jokowi in Pekauman Village, East Martapura District. , Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, reported by Antara, Monday, January 18.
A number of ministers joined Jokowi when he visited the flood locations in South Kalimantan. Among them, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor and Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman.
"I have asked the Minister of Public Works so that within 3-4 days it can be completed so that the mobility of the distribution of goods will not be disturbed," added the President.
Furthermore, the President also checks the readiness of evacuation and logistics distribution.
"Second, with regard to the evacuation, I see that in the field it is handled well. The three logistics for refugees are important because nearly 20 thousand people are in evacuation," said the President.
If the local government has difficulties in fulfilling logistics, according to President Jokowi, the central government will help meet their needs.
"So these 3 things are important for us to see so that the existing deficiencies can be assisted by the central government as well as the logistics in the provincial, regency and city governments," said the President.
A total of 10 districts / cities affected by flooding in South Kalimantan are Tapin Regency, Banjar Regency, Banjar Baru City, Tanah Laut City, Banjarmasin City, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, Balangan Regency, Tabalong Regency, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, and Batola Regency.
The number of victims who died was 15 people with details, 7 people from Tanah Laut Regency, 3 people from Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, 1 person from Banjar Baru City, 1 person from Tapin Regency, and 3 people from Banjar Regency.
The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan has determined the Flood Disaster Emergency Response Status since last Thursday, January 14.
The joint team has distributed aid to 10 districts affected by the flood, starting from material and non-material such as clothing, food, tarpaulin, mattresses, blankets and basic disaster equipment.
Based on the monitoring of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), South Kalimantan still has the potential to experience light to moderate rain while the rainy season will continue until February 2021.
