The film Brick Mansions is set in 2018, where Detroit plunges into crime. Authorities sealed off the city with a large wall built on the city border as high as 40 feet (12m). The wall is to protect the community from the existence of residents of Brick Mansions or brick-walled apartments.
The zone is closely monitored by the police. Police are monitoring all movement in and out of Brick Mansions, and the school and hospital inside have been closed.
Once someone enters the city, that person cannot go out again. Gradually the city became a comfortable residence for big criminals.
Lino (David Belle), a former convict tries to save his lover named Lola who is kidnapped by drug lord, Tremaine. Lino, who is familiar with the ins and outs of Brick Mansions, manages to steal a bag of Tremaine's heroin, which leads him to be chased by Tremaine.
Meanwhile, city officials learn that Tremaine has obtained a nuclear explosive and a small missile, which he plans to launch into downtown Detroit unless he gets a ransom.
Damien Collier (Paul Walker), an undercover cop, is assigned to free Lino so that the two of them can destroy the bomb together.
At first they fought with each other, both verbally and physically, but they finally decided to cooperate after Lino found out that Damien was actually an undercover cop. They work together to make each other's visions a success at Brick Mansions.
